Note from Dr. Anderson: Mrs. Bulk and I would like to take this time to wish you all a very happy holiday season and New Year! It is hard to believe that 2018 is coming to an end. With the close of 2018 school year comes the closing of the doors to our current building. 2019 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for our learning community as we will be moving into our new learning environment. BMS Spotlight on Learning: This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mr. Mark Davis, Mrs. Becky Henderson, Mr. Alex Tainsh, and the 14 students who attended the CS4RI (Computer Science for ALL in RI) Summit last week. Our students proudly showcased their expertise, knowledge, and passion for technology with others at the URI Campus. BMS, one of the only middle schools to be in attendance, presented alongside high schools and Universities. Great work teachers and students! BMS News you can Use: BMS Building Update: The new building construction is well underway. To help with communication, each week I have been releasing the BMS Building Project Blog. You can access the blog by visiting the BMS Building Project Homepage or the direct link to the BMS Building Project Blog. In addition, each Tuesday morning we will have a student volunteer give updates to our student body during morning announcements. 8th Grade Parent Washington DC Informational meeting: On Monday, December 17, 2018 Mrs. Snyder and I will be hosting a parent informational night for our annual Washington, DC trip scheduled for May 31st through June 2, 2019. This will be our 4th trip! At the meeting we will be providing families with a tentative itinerary, travel logistics including projected cost, as well as how parents can volunteer to chaperone. After the information meeting, we will be emailing home all information covered in the meeting. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:00 pm and will be held in the BMS Auditorium. BMS Brick Fundraiser: Barrington Middle School is having a fundraiser where you can purchase a brick to be used on the walkway at the new Barrington Middle School. Each brick costs $50 and can be printed with your family name (up to three lines). Click here for more information. The deadline for ordering is December 31, 2018. BMS Yearbook: The BMS Yearbook is now available for ordering! There are several packages available (starting at $40) and all orders will be online at Ybpay.lifetouch.com. ID Code: 1540719. 8th graders don’t forget to upload your baby picture at https://goo.gl/aSqD6e. BMS Variety Show: BMS will be hosting its annual Variety Show this February. Show us your talent! Open Auditions (Auditions should be nearly show ready!) Wednesday, January 9 Thursday, January 10 Sign up in the office to audition BMS School Improvement Plan Working Draft: I encourage you to periodically review the below link of our BMS Working School Improvement Plan. (note: Student Success Goals have been finalized and presented to our School Committee). BMS SMART Template 2018 - 2019 (Working Draft) Community Announcement: SEAC is excited to announce that the Rhode Island Parent Information Network (RIPIN) is coming to Barrington! Please join us for an important workshop: Basic Rights in Special Education (Children and Youth Ages 3-21) Tuesday, January 8, at 6:15 pm at the Barrington Public Library in the Collis Family Gallery.
