Barrington Middle School BMS Connected Learning Newsletter 5.6.2019 The BMS Learning Community is Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Succeed! Upcoming Events: (Note: Please review the dates as dates are subject to change due to a number of factors from one newsletter to the next).
BMS Spotlight on Learning: This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Ms. Kara Scanlon and Ms. AnnMarie Gower for organizing our first ever BMS Badminton Tournament this past Friday afternoon. Thank you Kara and AnnMarie for organizing this fun and exciting event for our students. Well done! BMS New Information: Bike Safety: As the weather gets warmer, we are bound to have more and more bikers riding to school. There are times where we have counted nearly 300 bikes! With that said, it is important for us to review bike safety to and from school:
Car Safety: As the weather gets warmer, there will be more and more bikes riding to school. We cannot stress enough to take extra caution during drop off and pickup time. Please be sure to be mindful when pulling into the parking lot for walkers and bikers, and when pulling out of the parking lot, please look twice. Unfortunately, last year we did have an accident with a car and biker (note: student was okay but very shaken). Important Message About Measles: Please click here (English) (Spanish) for an important message regarding measles from the RI Department of Health. One Amazing Night: We can’t believe One Amazing Night is right around the corner! Please join us at Barrington Middle School from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 for a celebration of all things BMS. Families will be able to enjoy food, music performed by BMS student performance groups, giant obstacle course, badminton, academic showcase, as well as demonstrations in our STEAM Studio and Woodshop. Please note that this is not a drop off event. Students must be in attendance with an adult. BMS Old Information: Chromebook Care:
Remind:
Remind is a communication platform that helps schools and districts reach and engage with their communities. Because it is a texting system, important last minute notices such as late buses, early releases, etc can get out quickly. If you are interested in participating, please click on this link: https://www.remind.com/join/bmsfam BMS Standing Items: BMS Building Update: The new building construction is well underway. To help with communication, each week I have been releasing the BMS Building Project Blog. You can access the blog by visiting the BMS Building Project Homepage or the direct link to the BMS Building Project Blog. In addition, each Tuesday morning we will have a student volunteer give updates to our student body during morning announcements. BMS School Improvement Plan Working Draft: I encourage you to periodically review the below link of our BMS Working School Improvement Plan. (note: Student Success Goals have been finalized and presented to our School Committee). BMS SMART Template 2018 - 2019 (Working Draft) Barrington Middle School Parent Newsletter
