Barrington Middle School BMS Connected Learning Newsletter 6.10.2019 The BMS Learning Community is Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Succeed! Upcoming Events: (Note: Please review the dates as dates are subject to change due to a number of factors from one newsletter to the next).
BMS Spotlight on Learning: This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our Razz teachers (Ms. Julie Abbruzzi, Mrs. Melissa Bento, Mrs. Jodi Cabral, and Ms. Becky Ferry) and our Razz students for an amazing wax museum! This past week, Razz turned the cafeterias into a wax museum where each student took on the persona of a famous historical figure. When “activated,” students came to life and delivered a monologue detailing the life of the individual who they researched. Great work Razz! BMS New Information: Last Week of School: Barrington Middle School has prepared a fun and exciting last week of school for our students with its culminating activity of having our 8th Graders march out of the building beginning at 1:55 pm!
Afternoon Pick Up: This is a friendly reminder for our families who are picking students up at the end of the day. If the bus’s stop sign is out, you may not pass the busses to cut through the parking lot. Passing a bus with it’s stop sign out is illegal and may result in a fine. BMS Old Information: 8th Grade Bridge Ceremony: Our 8th Grade Bridge Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, 2019 beginning at 6:00 pm at Barrington High School. Students will be asked to be in line by 5:30 pm. Due to capacity/room, each student will be issued 2 tickets to give to his/her family members. Tickets that are not used will be re-collected and issued out on a first come first serve basis. Students are asked to bring a flower of their choice with them to this event; it will be incorporated into the ceremony. 8th Grade Dinner Dance: Our 8th Grade Dinner Dance will take place directly after the Bridge Ceremony from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm for BMS 8th grade students only. This year’s theme is under the sea and glow in the dark! Tickets will be purchased in homeroom for $20.00 the week prior to the event. (Please note that 8th graders will be able to arrive one hour later to school the next morning-- Wednesday, June 19th, at 8:30 am). Library Books: We are beginning the process of collecting all library books that have been checked out of our BMS Library. Please check with your child to see if he/she has a book that is out. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Remind: Remind is a communication platform that helps schools and districts reach and engage with their communities. Because it is a texting system, important last minute notices such as late buses, early releases, etc can get out quickly. If you are interested in participating, please click on this link: https://www.remind.com/join/bmsfam BMS Standing Items: BMS Building Update: The new building construction is well underway. To help with communication, each week I have been releasing the BMS Building Project Blog. You can access the blog by visiting the BMS Building Project Homepage or the direct link to the BMS Building Project Blog. In addition, each Tuesday morning we will have a student volunteer give updates to our student body during morning announcements. BMS School Improvement Plan Working Draft: I encourage you to periodically review the below link of our BMS Working School Improvement Plan. (note: Student Success Goals have been finalized and presented to our School Committee). BMS SMART Template 2018 - 2019 (Working Draft) Community Information:
