Note from Dr. Anderson Mrs. Bulk and I would like to thank all of the parents who attended this year’s open house. Mrs. Bulk and I very much enjoy walking the hallways and speaking with parents. There certainly was a great positive energy in the air for teaching and learning at Barrington Middle School. In addition, there was a great deal of excitement for our new building. Thank you for making this event such a special night. BMS Spotlight on Learning This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Dalessio. A few students have reported that they have been enjoying their ELA class, especially during her grammar lessons, due to Mrs. Dalessio's enthusiasm and her love for music. Mrs. Dalessio kicks off each grammar lesson with a song. Well done Mrs. Dalessio! BMS News you can Use BMS Building Update: The new building construction is well underway. To help with communication, each week I have been releasing the BMS Building Project Blog. BMS Book Fair: Mrs. Bulk and I would like to thank our PTO for organizing this year’s book fair. We certainly appreciate and acknowledge the amount of time and effort that go into this event. BMS PTO Meeting: Our first PTO meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 24, 2018 at 7:00pm in the school’s library. In addition, Mr. Blanchet (BMS Math Curriculum Chair), Dr. Dillon (Assistant Superintendent), and I will be providing an overview of BMS’s math curriculum and scope and sequences. Start with Hello Week: Social isolation is the overwhelming feeling of being left out, lonely or treated like you are invisible. It is a growing epidemic in the United States and within our schools. As a result, many further pull away from society, struggle with learning and social development and/or choose to hurt themselves or others. During the week of September 24 - 28, along with hundreds of schools and youth organization from across the United States, Barrington Middle School will participate in Sandy Hook Promise’s third annual Start With Hello Week. Start With Hello Week brings attention to the growing epidemic of social isolation in our schools and communities and empowers young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school or youth organization.

As many of you are aware, at Barrington Middle School, we use Aspen as our student information system. Aspen provides families with an opportunity to review your child’s grades on a regular basis, see your child’s teachers ‘pages’ to learn about homework and upcoming assignments, as well as see your child’s assessment data. From time to time, we receive phone calls regarding how parents can retrieve Aspen accounts and emails. Please see the following link to help with retrieving/resetting Aspen accounts. http://www.barringtonschools.org/aspen-faq.html Barrington Middle School Parent Newsletter
